Key Peninsula Senior Ride Program
Our senior transportation program partners with Catholic Community Services and volunteers to provide rides to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other essential destinations for pre-registered riders.
Individual Door through Door Transportation
- We partner with Catholic Community Services to provide this service under their program guidelines
- Volunteer drivers provide rides in their personal vehicles
- Individually scheduled rides to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other essential destinations for pre-registered riders
- Rides are scheduled 7 days or more in advance
- Riders must live on the Key Peninsula and have a combined household income of less than $3,000 per month after deducting out-of-pocket medical expenses, rent or mortgage
- Riders must be age 60+ or an adult with disabilities
- No charge but donations are always gratefully accepted
- All riders must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination
Pierce Transit Bus
- We partner with Pierce Transit to provide this service under their guidelines
- Volunteer drivers take individual riders who require the use of a lift-equipped van to doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, and other essential services.
- Rides are scheduled 7 business days or more in advance
- Riders must live on the Key Peninsula and have a combined household income of less than $3,000 per month after deducting out-of-pocket medical expenses, rent or mortgage
- Riders must be age 60+ or an adult with disabilities
- No charge but donations are always gratefully accepted
- All riders must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination
“It’s a pleasure to be able to help people. Some people that I have driven, I think I was probably their only social contact for the week. It just gives them a contact with the rest of the world, which they won’t necessarily have otherwise.
This is important to them and it’s important to me. Someday I may need the use of the service myself. Let’s make sure it works right.”
