At the Mustard Seed Project, we see it every day: a warm meal, a friendly face, a ride to an appointment, a place to belong. Your generosity makes this possible for older adults in our community, without cost being a barrier.
The impacts highlighted below show that this has been a year of meaningful growth. We have served more meals, delivered more food to homes, driven thousands of miles for seniors, expanded programs, and increased volunteer hours across the Key Peninsula.
Growth is something to celebrate—but it also reflects rising need, at a time when funding is increasingly competitive due to the ripple effects of massive federal cuts in the nonprofit world. That’s why we’re inviting you to become a monthly Sustaining Supporter. Monthly giving is manageable for you and dependable for us—ensuring our neighbors can count on nutritious meals and connection all year long.
A gift of $200, $100, $50, or $25 each month helps provide fresh ingredients, keep meals affordable, and sustain the heart of our programs. Any amount helps, and every monthly gift makes a difference.
Consistent monthly support is what keeps us strong throughout the year—allowing us to continue saying “yes” when a neighbor needs help.

Thank you for helping make the Mustard Seed Project a place where people are nourished—body and spirit.
-With gratitude from all of us at the Mustard Seed Project!
P.S. The numbers and pictures below tell a story of what we’ve accomplished together.
Your monthly gift ensures it will continue.

Community Memory Loss Education Classes
Many older adults worry about memory loss – both for themselves and their loved ones. While forgetfulness doesn’t always indicate Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, awareness is key. Each year, about 500,000 people receive a dementia diagnosis, leaving many caregivers unprepared for the challenges ahead.
Pierce County Aging and Disability Resources (ADR) is hosting a series of free seminars on dementia starting April 7 at the Crandall Center. The classes will be on Tuesdays from 11:15am-12:00pm, from April 7 through May 12. The discussions will help individuals, caregivers, and families understand the disease, manage behaviors, plan financially and legally, and more.
Caregiver Academy
The spring 2026 session of Caregiver Academy at the Mustard Seed Project will take place April 20th- May 29th. This session will be a new online and in-person hybrid format.
A majority of the 75 hours will be completed online, at your own pace, with your own schedule. You will have access to the class instructor for questions and guidance throughout the session. There will also be four in-person, hands-on learning days.
The instructor will help schedule the final exam, which is completed off-site. Upon successful completion of the exam, the Mustard Seed Project will reimburse participants for the exam fee.
Next, participants may choose to continue their education by enrolling in additional programs, such as CNA training or other healthcare certifications. They can also receive support from our instructor in beginning their job search for caregiver positions. Alternatively, participants may decide to work independently as Certified Home Care Aides.
The class fee is $75 and we have scholarships available.
This program is made possible by support from The Rotary Club of Gig Harbor and Homewatch CareGivers.

Volunteer drivers are reimbursed for their mileage and provide transportation to essential medical appointments, grocery stores, and social gatherings, which ensures older adults in our rural community stay connected and supported. Beyond simply offering a ride, drivers build relationships, reduce social isolation, and provide peace of mind for seniors who might otherwise face transportation barriers.
