Medicare Season Is Scam Season
Unfortunately, the Medicare enrollment season, October 15 to December 7, has become statistically the time of year with the highest rate of scams and fraud.
Have you heard of AARPâs new campaign to stay safe from scams?
Stay Safe From Scams: Pause. Reflect. Protect.
- Take a moment to gather the facts about the communication.
- If the communication is unexpected, creates urgency, or elicits an emotional response, it may be a scam.
- If there is any doubt about the communication, end it immediately.
Keep these simple steps in mindâand share them with family and friendsâto fight back against todayâs sophisticated fraudsters.
For more information about AARPâs Fraud Watch Network, to report a scam, or if you need assistance navigating fraud, please contact:
AARP Fraud Watch Network Helpline: 877-908-3360
The Mustard Seed Project also wants to remind everyone to be cautious when receiving communications requesting sensitive personal information, including banking or financial details. Please know that The Mustard Seed Project will never request financial information by phone, text message, or email.
ACH payments for rent or donations can only be processed through our secure website portals. If you ever receive a message requesting this type of information, please do not respond; instead, reach out to us directly. Thank you for your help in protecting our community!
